Our
County Standard has 3 panels:
|
| The
first panel
contains the Guide Trefoil and, because it was dedicated in
the Coronation year of HM Queen Elizabeth II, it also has a golden orb in
the corner.
|
| The
second panel is the County Badge which is also the crest of the County
town of Gloucester
|
| The
third panel symbolises the county. The green background with wavy blue and
white line represents the fertile land divided by the river Severn. The
Fleece is symbolic of the ancient wool trade. The Horseshoe is
representative of the wrought iron industry. The Oak Tree symbolises the
Forest of Dean and the wooded slopes of the Cotswold hills. The sheaf of
corn represents the agriculture of the area.
